Going to rebuild one from bare block , thought I would convert it to a B series . My parts guys don"t agree on what all I need . I have the valve cover and I know different cam . One parts guy says different lifters ( I was going to change them since I was putting in a new cam ) and push rods . One guy says I need risers and different rockers but not available from IH anymore . The other says I don"t need them ?

You don't need a different lifter. There was one available at one time and if I remember right, the push rods were shorter. The changes on lifters came when we were having lot of cam trouble and IH hadn't gone to the jet spray on all rocker arm supports(standoffs some may call them). Those lifters had a hardened insert on cam end (from v8 I think). You do need all new rocker arm supports with oil jet for best life. Top breather or latest and greatest large side moiunt breather,(cost and arm and a leg). One thing I would do, pull rear cam bearing and make the groove in block deeper to make sure you get enough oil to the rockers. They take a lot of oil with the jets in supports. Other B changes were different nozzle tip, different injection lines. Not really necessary but they need to be matched , not mixed. Possibly oil pump also.
