Who brought the first 100hp tractor market.

might be a toss up, didnt they both come out in 1965? unless they are talking right down to the nearest day?

DRAWBAR horsepower.

The G1000 Moline and IH 1206 were among the first to have over 100 drawbar horsepower. There were tractors with over 100 PTO horsepower already, but not drawbar.

The MM G1000 was 110hp

The G1000 was pulling out the end in all the pulls around here, and then the 806 came out and took care of that. Old yeller just died, red kept on down to the last few rpm's.

Actually the Nebraska tests show the 1206 @ 95DBHP and the MM G1000 @100.99DBHP, but in '65.
I'm going with the 5010 in '63 of the ones I have looked at as the first "wheeled tractor".
Someone asked about the old steam tractors... They may have had a ton of torque, but not HP due to the speed, or lack thereof. Hp is a function of both.

Yes, some of the big steamers had tremendous drawbar
horsepower. The figure is 33,000 ft lbs per minute.
or 330 lbs 100 ft if that makes sense better to you.

Thanks everybody what a great reply to my question all over the board but great the one I discount is the jd 8010/20 those were not farm tractors just payloaders with out the bucket.

According to a book I have the first tractor over 100 drawbar HP was a 4 wheel drive JD 8010(1960), but not too many were sold cause they were too big. The two wheel drive 5010 was 63. AC D21, IH 1206 were in 1965. And the rest were after that, M-F was in 67 or 69--the 1130.

The 8010 I was talking about is a 4wheel drive farm tractor. The book has a picture of it. Looks pretty much like the ones now days but smaller. The book is Farm Tactors (1950 to 1975) by Lester Larsen--page 63.

It doesn't look like a payloader without a bucket to me.

I think most people thought, since you started with the MM, that was what you were after.
However about the JD 8010, when I joined the USAF in Jan. [u:11f5729131]1961[/u:11f5729131], I was in basic training and later based in WY with a guy that had worked for JD in Moline for a short time before enlisting. I remember him saying JD had a big display tire in their main lobby with a sign saying something to the affect of "We make a tractor to fit this tire."
