450 Governor and hydraulic question

I took the linkage cover off this morning an d found this, not what I expected,I thought it would be a yoke assembly,it seemed to be adjusted about right, but will look at agin. Is this the normal set up? These are the valves I bought, do they look like the right ones? I don't have the hood off now but they look like what I remember. Thanks Mike

you would have to follow the adjustment as per manual for the governor linkage settings. governor looks good. make sure everything is free and no sticking linkage. i know on the w series it likes to stick at the bell crank down by gear shift.

Hey Mike - That hex head capscrew pivot pin in the governor riser bellcrank is suspect! There's supposed to be a smooth, flanged head pin retained with a small cotter pin there.

The pin should fit snugly (with no play) but slide easily through both parts. Any slop OR binding of the pin will cause all manner of throttle response problems.

The rest of the governor internals look good!

Thats a aftermarket Rocket power governor. Adjustments are made the same except for the one adjustment is made a little different way. If the vertical rod length needs changed the bolt is removed and the lock nut on the joint is loosened and the joint turned on the rod to change length.
Also did not say the valves will work, unless you have the IH power steering from the hydruatouch system. If so the valve on right in picture won't work.

Rocket power governor? I've never heard of that one, was it a common aftermarket set up? After lunch I went back and looked at it again, and figured out the adjustment and proceded as instructed, it works good now! Thanks guys. My 450 has power steering and fast hitch, I think the 350 had a fast hitch, but I don't remember if it had power steering. Am i correct in thinking the right valve is for the fast hitch and the other two are the remotes? How can I tell if they will work on the 450? Thanks again Mike

Wouldn't say the governors were common, but not realy uncommon.
Two valves on the left will work on the 450 in the center or right side (outside) with power steering. Without power steering they can be used on the inside if they have outlet plugs on the other side and the plugs are moved over to the front side. If the stem on top to select single or double acting is the wrong length they can be switched out with the previous used valves. Those look like the 450 size though. Right valve is needed with a outlet hole in the center facing you in the picture for power steering.

That's what I was hoping for on the valves, the old valves are really loose and leak by pretty badly, these seem to be tighter. What is different about the rocket power governor from stock? I have always thought this tractor had good throttle response. DId rocket make other parts too? I am learning new things about my old dog tractor. Thanks Mike
