Hello everyone, I got my 1959 IH 240 Utility back the other day, I still have some small things to do on it. I can't wait to take it to the shows this
year. It is fun to drive with power steering and purrs like a kitten. I want to Thank Farmallhal for all his help, you guys are the best !

Impressive! You should be proud. I have a 58 240U that is in "as found" condition. What a difference!
That looks like a nice shop too.

thanks

First tractor I ever ran was a 240 utility - I was about 5 years old and drove it while by brothers picked up hay.

I was 13 when I really grew to hate that tractor - it had an old riding lawnmower style seat bolted directly to the frame with no springs. Mowing and raking hay fields days on end would leave you with blisters on your arse. Yours looks like it would be much more comfortable.

Very nice looking tractor! Funny how long these old tractors will last with some care. The best part is they can be rebuilt and will last another 50-70 years! Nothing like today's throwaway materials.

Looks pretty darn nice. It looks like the wrong shade of white though. Thats what I had used originally on the 560 I just finished but I repainted it the IH Cream. STILL A NICE TRACTOR!

Looks a "little" nicer than mine  , but two things...1. I have a factory 3 point on mine, but it's totally different, and 2. I didn't know they had a "pan" seat for the 240U... thought they were the same as the bigger tractors with a "wrap aroung" backrest and padded seat (mine has an aftermarket seat).

It appears he has the correct shade of white. You don"t want bone white and his is not. I think the light his is sitting in makes it look a little lighter than yours sitting in the shop.

man that thing looks good. i hope when i get around to doing mine it turns out that nice. i have a 58 240 row crop

You deserve credit for a job well done!! That pan seat is standard equipment-and even has that scarce battery cover!!

Thanks guys for all the nice comments, Here is a before picture. The "white" is the correct cream color, outside lighting is the cause. The plain pan seat is original as well as the 3-point. My wife's grandfather purchased it and nothing was changed. I wish the battery cover was original it is how ever a close copy with a lot of fabrication. This is my first
large tractor restoration, it was done in memory of Elzie Sluder of Eubank Kentucky, my wife used this tractor as a kid to set tobacco on the family farm. I hope to make it to the Red Power Round-up in Lima OH in June if I can get away from work.
