Super H Starter

Quick question for you guys, My 53 Super H has saddle mount switch on the starter with the pull rod to operate the starter, it's oriented towards the back side of the battery box. It's not the correct battery box on the tractor now, getting the correct one, but looks like the correct will be up against the terminal at the switch, I'm thinking that the starter can be taken apart from the nose piece & rotated so the terminal & switch can be oriented towards the right side of the tractor as might have been originally ? Looks like the starter was replaced recently, which make me think the orientation of the switch is wrong ? As always, thanks for any thoughts, AL

Al, did you get my email? I have seen them various ways, was told that early supers could had regular H style starter stuff...what ever was there at production!

Pete, Yes I did, you said yours had the push switch, saw a picture of one that had the pull rod like mine, but the terminal & saddle switch was opposite of mine, so hoping someone has aclose up photo. Thanks,AL

Stage 1or2?

Shoot me an email so I have it in my phone and I'll go get you a picture. I have both stage 1 and 2. They are configured a little different from each other.

Don't have one to look at but from what I remember the switch sitts near the top.
Starter operating rod is to right side of the fuel tank bowl. Battery box is away from the bowl centerline on the other side. Real late H tractors also had that type starter.

YES, those starters can be "re-clocked"

Can you make out the Delco tag?? Early SH used the 11018016 starter,#19234 and up used the 11018012 as I recall, but a little rusty now-

#19234 and up used a THREE bolt starter. It won't fit on the older tractor.

AL, you really need to post a picture. It's hard to envision what you're talking about.

The starter can be reclocked, but only 180 degrees (1/2 a turn) from where it is now. There are only two bolts holding the chassis to the nosepiece.

If the saddle switch is pointing to the, say, 10 o'clock position now, it will point to 4 o'clock, down and to the right. That's even more wrong than it is now.

I don't want people to get the idea that the 1101812 starter will fit the early Super H or that the 1101812 starter is a viable solution to Al's dilemma.

Just making clear that IT DON'T FIT.

From Al's description, "it's oriented towards the back side of the battery box" indicates he has an early Super H.
