Black upholstered flip up rail seat for an "M" ava

I've searched and searched and all I see is silver, and red and white two-tone. A bit too fashionable for my tastes. The only black ones I see are the regular 4 bolt pans.

From looking at old pictures, it seems that black was the original color. I may be wrong there but that's the color I want, the color I need. Anyone?

TIA

I don't know about an M, but our '49 C and '54 SC were both silver. Difference was the C had no padding and the SC had about 1/2" of padding, but both silver and both were bought new.

Black canvas was original on the early Farmalls. Don't know when the change was made, but eventually silver canvas was standard.

I have seen a picture on this forum, or Red Power Magazine of early C's with black seats, maybe Jim Becker will read this. However my dad had a late 47 H with a silver seat -- C's came out in 48, so there is some confusion as to when silver replaced black.

pre 1950 were black, 1950 and newer were silver, Darrell Darst can recover your original in black.

A service bulletin, dated 10/14/49 was titled "New covering material for upholstered seats Farmall & wheel tractors" and "New covering material for upholstered seats crawler tractors". I don't know the content, just the title. I presume it addressed the color change. Sometimes, bulletins cover items that have long-since changed. Others were out before the change. That is all I know related to the color change.

I have posted a picture from WHS in the past. It is from Loiusville in 1948 and the seat coverings are all black.

Is there any contact information available on Darrell Darst? I'd sure would like to talk to him.

Thanks
