I just got delivery of another H parts machine tonight right around
dark and noticed that it has 8 ply 6.00/16 tires on the front. I am
thinking of putting them on the 300 once it is back up and running.
I have never seen 8 ply tires on an H before, is there any reason
why they would not be a good idea? It also has a 14.9/38 on one
side and a 15.5/38 on the other but they look almost the same
since the rims are both fairly narrow. I will get pictures tomorrow.

Pictures of the new H parts tractor. Never had front weights or shutters before.

Over the years I have seen 4, 6, 8 ply tires on just about any and all machines. I think it is/was more or less a thing that had to do more with the price of the tire then other things and 8 ply being the top of the line and 4 ply the cheaper ones. The heavier the ply the more it takes to get a thorn etc to the tube so less likely to have a flat. Now if you where talking about truck tires then that would be for handling a heavier load

Thanks, that makes sense. The 300 had one 5.50/16 when I got it and I had a spare one that matched, but the bigger size will match the rears better and maybe spread the weight out a bit more, I am hoping.

thats a good idea, cause the tractor came with 5.50-16 and 11-38 on rear. since you have the larger rear, 6.00's on the front would look better also.
