Do any of you happen to have a parts number from a decent auto parts house for an M starter button, I do not want any more foreign junk if I can help it....Thanks Animal

| There was no such thing as a Chinese switch 35 years ago. That's when Dad put a solenoid on the M because he was sick of the push button switches not holding up.
You can't push the switch fast enough to keep it from arcing and burning the contacts over time. That's why they don't hold up.

| A solenoid has the very same type of electrical contacts inside of it that the push button starter switch has. Used to be those solenoids could be dis-assembled, the contacts rotated to a previously un-used position, and the solenoid would be just like a new one.

| | They don't last long that's for sure no matter where you buy them. I used the original start switch to energize a 6 volt solenoid that I hid behind the battery box. Solved all my buring up switches problems. I have since converted that tractor to 12 volt and reduced my starting problems even more.

| Any of the auto parts houses will have the same button, made in the same place. The exception MIGHT be a Case-IH dealer, but don't bet on that.
