Which is the correct radiator cap for a '41 H ?

My radiator cap is beat up, rusted, and the seal is pretty much gone, I see two different caps on ebay, the one on it now is just like the one with the red background, would it have been silver or painted 2150? I see this other style with the black background.

The upper style is for the non-pressurized radiator, the lower is for pressurized. Look at the radiator filler neck and you will see which one you need. The pressurized one has a ledge inside it like a car radiator while the non- one looks more like the gas tank filler neck on the tractor.

The top cap (red background) is for early tractors. The radiator is not pressurized. The bottom is for 7.5PSI pressurized cap on later models.
If you take your gas cap, it will be a very close fit to the (red) cap. it will not come close to fitting the pressurized neck. Since any radiator could be installed it is necessary to check the size.

I read through all of the replies, but so far, no one has emphasized the fact that the 2 different caps will NOT interchange.

The early style, non-pressurized radiator cap WILL interchange with the gas tank cap however.

I thought that if not Zachary Hoyt's, certainly Janicholson's response made that abundantly clear.

More or less, if you read between the lines, but there seems to be a lot of users of this forum who cannot read between the lines. I was merely attempting to add a little clarity.

Good point.

Pictures of the bottom sides of the caps would have made it a lot clearer too. Unfortunately, many of the eBay listings (and other sites) only show the top.

That is because quite a few of those ebay sellers have very little knowledge of the product they are selling.

Heck I got an old VW gas cap on mine.It was that way when I got it and it works so why change it. Besides I love being a little (lot) differant than everyone else,Kenny.
