my hyd lifts were slow to get started working early on in the fall, now it takes about 5 min.and they're both slow and jerky. my pump is whinning when the travel run is over.no visable leakage to be seen.all suggestions and advice is and will be appreciated.

Did you check the filter? If there is any water in the oil it will be frozen and cant get through the filter. Or if the oil or the pump is in bad shape when its cold the oil is thicker. I would start by dumping the oil and cleaning the filter and replace it with new Hytran.

history is very little usage!!25 hours/year max.riding grandbabies in trailor and disking 1/2 acre garden spot. my plans are restoration 1 day.

My point was going to be that if that tractor came from the factory to operate a sickle mower, the actuators in the hydraulic unit will be shorter than normal. This was done so that one could not "drop" the mower too fast. These actuators cause the hydraulic arms to come back toward you very slowly, they move away from you at a normal speed. But it sounds like you've had the tractor for some time and this is a recent phenomena.
Are you using proper Hy-Tran fluid?
