How to identify brake actuators

I messed up when taking the brakes off my WD-9. I assume the same would be true for any band brake tractor. I thought the parts looked the same, but the book lists two different part numbers for the actuators. How do you know what side is right and left?

Here is a fuzzy picture of what I am working with.

i would say if you get the actuator in position there and just visualize which way the band is squeezing the drum when the actuator is turning the correct position. it can only be correct with one actuator.
took another look at that pic and now cant see a difference ???
should be able to tell from the shaft wear marks, as one is rusty and one is shiney.so look in the cover and tractor and see what matches to what.

Wow...where was I on that one. Reason I need to know is because WOpp is sending me an actuator. I might just have me send the one that he already has off. They still look interchangeable to me...

(quoted from post at 19:06:23 01/04/13) The difference is in the location of the keyway.

That's what I thought, but by the picture they are both in about the 10 o'clock position. Obviously the right one is off some because it is ripping apart.
