M trans trouble

Hi all. Ran into some trouble with my superM. About a month ago it lost 4th gear. two days ago it lost all gears including reverse, except 5th. im wondering what might be the problem and if i should start looking for a donor. I only use this tractor to run augers and was planning on replacing it this year possibly. im the 3rd generation of our family to use this tractor. any help is appreciated i probably wont work on it until it gets warmer out but would like to have an idea of what i will be getting into. TIA

Take the pully drive off and look to see if you can tell what the problem is. Something may be causing the shifting forkks to bend.

Might just have the shifter end worn down to a nub. I think it needs to measure about 3/4" fore-n-aft length to fit into the shifter forks and move them and work properly. Easy to get it re-welded.

If its shifting into the gears it could be that you have a failure of the constant mesh gears or bearings on shafts that keep the gears in contact. Transmission counter shaft not turning. You can confirm or rule that out by seeing if the PTO shaft will still turn when shifted in gear.
