My 656 card has the electric load needle on it and it runs very rich. the plugs are fouling with carbin, and the motor is dirty and when you gas it fast it wants to die it spitts and sputters very bad. but if you speed it up slow it runs perfect.Could the needle be bad? And also there is oil seeping out the 1&4 spark plug hole and it looks like most all the cylinders are wet with oil but it never smokes at all what could be the problem there too. Thanks Josh

I had that trouble with my 666 gas and it sounds just like what you have. The only way i could fix that was to take the electric seliniod off and put an adjustible needle on it and i also put in hotter spark plugs ,havent had a problem since. Before i did that i would put new plugs in and they wouldnt go more than a few hours and they would fowl right up. Erik..

Josh I used the d21 plugs and they worked good . I got the adjustable needle from a guy who rebuilds carbs but i think you can get them where ever you go to get your parts. Like carquest just tell them what carb your putting it on.

That is not your problem as that is for shut down . As for the stumble there are several things that cause that , cold engine , ing. timing not set right , centrif. advance not working , heat riser not doing it job due to broken Bi metal spring or the maniflod is full of carbon and hea is not getting to the intake . As for the oil problem might be valve guieds , might be a plum slap wore out engine , Might be the gas your running . Can't say for sure as i am settinjg here at the idiot box not looking at your tractor.

The shut off solenoid on a 656 does work as a main jet adjustment, adjust with a flat blade screw driver. Yes there are more adjustments to make too. I wonder if your valve cover gasket is leaking, and that is what you are seeing as oil at the spark plugs.

Is your air intake clear? have you tried running without intake pipe? Does not take mice long to make a nest. Just a thought. Good Luck

The heat riser is it in the manifold would that have anything to do with the carb icing over when I use it? And it also is a wore out motor 5270hrs on her. Thanks for all the replys Josh

The adjustable needle, packing nut, and packing gland for a Farmall M will replace that troublesome electric solenoid. I've seen more 460s, 560s, etc. with the M set-up than I have seen with the original solenoid.

The reason you don't see them on 460-560 tractors is that they did not come from the factory with the SHUTDOWN solenoid on the carb. They did not start to install them till the 06 series came out . And aslong as i have been working on Farmalls i have replaced a grand total of a whole whopping two , And trust me i have gone thru a lot of gassers .
