Rustred,

I see the pic says "Alta"....I think that means Alberta. Do you live in Alberta?

Are you near the location of the 2013 World Plowing Championships this coming summer?

yes, the plowing match will be held at olds, ab. which is about 3 hrs. south of me. i am 1hr. north of edmonton.
you coming to the plow show?

I went to see an Ontario plowing contest near Cambridge, Ontario last Sept. I never saw a "European style" contest before....very interesting. They are serious about the words "Neatness counts"! Massey Harris plows and MH tractors dominated that event.

Several of the competitors talked about going to Olds next summer for the World Competition. I also would like to go back to see another Ontario match next Sept.

Olds is 1600 miles from central Wisconsin. Sure would be fun to see Manitoba and Alberta wheat country. You must be almost to the northern end of agriculture, that right?

AT our local "plow day" (no competition, just pleasure) we have a guy who brings a 15-30 nearly every year. We have him lead on the first round for all the photographers to take pictures.

You are far up the latitudes so your nights are pretty short now are they not? We have near 0F (-18c) tonight, how about you?

ooh no, there is a lot of good farm land way to the north of us yet. couple of hundred miles north of us to peace river area has good farm land. even about 100 miles south of the territory's border there is good farm land around ft. vermillion. nobody lives in igloos in alberta.
still lots of darkness ,its 8:30 am now and just getting light and then about 4:30pm it starts getting dark.
we have a few warm days now, its -3c this morning. for the past month or so its been around the -20'sC.
here at westlock we have had world record harvest. and also a big tractor museum which has the worlds largest working weather vein.it has a 1942 D case tractor on top of a 50 ft. pole. the museum is about 20,000 sq.ft. and houses about 200 tractors. also have antique tractor show each year in june.

yes it is for a small town back then. today the town is about 5000 or so. back then it must have been in the hundreds. too bad it wasn't a color photo. there was piles of them 15-30 tractors around here. everytime went to a farm auction there was one scrapped and sold for 25.00 to 50.00 dollars. junk dealers just hauled them to the scrap yard.
