M dash?

I finally have my 46 M dash ready to put back together. does the amp guage go at the top or bottom? What is the correct thing to do to the light switch knob? Should it be painted red or black or not painted at all? Thanks and Happy New Year to everyone. Kent

Switch knob was red. Be sure to polish the grounding surfaces for the switch and the box lid to the box, and box to post.
The amp gauge it on top. Jim

I cleaned the knob up and used the same color as the rims.

A note for thosewho are re building electrical on M, H, C,A, B, W series; I have a new switch box I ordered Then later discovered that I need not have { LISTED ON THE SALE SIGHT} Will sell for what I have in it plus shipping.
