300 engine problem

hi i started the 300 today and noticed that i had a little bit of oil come out of the muffler and had when on the hood what does that mean???

Carbon and fuel residue deposits on the inside of the exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe and muffler from short running times and cold weather are rather fluffy. When the engine is started, water (formed from burning Hydrocarbon fuel (burnt hydrogen) condenses on those cold parts and dissolves some of the residue. Diesels are notorious for that issue, but it happens on gasoline tractors as well. As the tractor warms in the first few minutes, that condensed water spits out and lands on everything. We tend to be neatnicks today and our cars spit out the black to the rear and we do not see it (except on the garage door if the tail pipe is directed there.)
If the material dries up and acts like a stain that is what it is. If the material is oil, and remains oily, your tractor will be smoking like a English chimney in the 1800s. Wet stacking is the name for it, and it is common as we use our tractors for small work and short times. Jim

Susan - Like Jim says, what you saw perfectly normal - especially in cooler weather. Don't worry about it!

Mostly likely a by produce of condensation and the fat the weather is a lot cooler this time of year. Even your car will do the same thing. Start it one day from a cold start then go behind and I bet you will see a bit of water dripping out the exhaust and if you caught that water it would look black and sort of like oil

what is the best stuff to get this stuff off of paint it every where and i want it looking like i restored it

two items:
Moderate to strong detergent (dish soap) and warm water.
Waxing the tractor when clean makes it less prone to sticking.
The water from combustion gasses is mildly acidic, and can damage paint, waxing prevents the attack. Jim
