Yes farmallhal is a good helpful fellow. So I don't want to offened him. Just add a little to his answer. Letter is for the casting date of the part and not exactly when the tractor was built. For example a part cast in 1940 could be on a tractor built in 1941. More common if the part was cast late in 1940. |

| Dave, Your historial knowledge is very welcome and I always look forward to your comments on this forum - you note a very good possibility and if the original engine is still in the tractor with a s/n within the range of those of 1940 manufacture (10653-52386) I think it could be nailed down.
