MD Filter Question

Recently there has been some discussion of bleeding diesel filters on an MD. Maybe 10 or more years ago I replaced the string wound filter on my MD because the gauage was reading low when under load. Was the string wound filter the primary or auxilary filter? My under standing is they are no longer available but you can replace them with the filters used on the 450s. Thanks. Al

They are still available. I have recently purchased 2 of them. The string filter is the AUX. filter and should be mounted in the right hand side filter base. The base is marked FIN and AUX. When I got my tractor, they were backwards.

You have to have an adapter to replace the string type filter. If, you find one your lucky. The string type filter is still available.

Dan, Thanks for the input. I thought the AUX was the string filter but after reading all the comments on the other discussion, I wasn't sure. Al
