belt pulley speed

Have a Papec Model X hammermill. It says on the side of it, needs to run between 2000 and 2200 RPM. It has a 6 inch pulley. I'm running it with a Farmall H with a 9 3/4 pulley. Seems like it's running slow. I have the 11 and a 12 inch pulley for the H. Can't remember how to figure out the speed of each one. Any idea which one I should be using would be great.

According to this old thread, the pulley shaft on an H runs just a bit over 1,000 RPM. Just to get your hammermill up to the minimun speed, you are going to need a pulley on the tractor 2x the size of the one on the mill. In other words, you need to use your 12" pulley to get into the proper speed range.

May also want to make sure that the number on the mill is RPM and not FPM, as FPM would be about 2/3 the speed of RPM with a 6" pulley. The pulley would be about 18.8 inches in circumference if I did the math right.

RPM's x diameter of one = RPM's x diameter of the other.
