Touch Control Levers

Finally got around to getting the touch control lever stops off the Super C. Had to buy one stop as the little nib that stops the lever was broken off. Went to True Value and got all new thumb screws. My question is, are the guides and the stops suppose to be painted and if so what color? Mine had about three coats of silver paint that had been brushed on. Nothing was going to move in that condition. Thanks for your time.

If I buy new ones I leave them alone, don't know how they came from the factory, probably painted as everything else was.

The little bar they slide on wasn't painted. I assume the quadrant bars (and thus the stops) were installed after the tractor was painted, so assume the stops weren't painted either. The same would apply to the pointer slides (about the same as the stops except there was no nib to stop the lever).

The lever stops themselves were not painted but were "Pot Metal" color or silver. The thumb screws were not painted. The guide bars were painted with a single thin coat of red with no primer.
