C, Super C differences?

I'm looking at a Farmall C tomorrow. The owner says the sn indicates that it was built in 52. Wouldn't that make it a super C? He seems pretty sure that its a c. The decals on the tractor are for a C. Is the sn attached to a perminate part of the tractor or can it be on a salvage part? What can I look for to determin the real identity of the tractor before buying it.

A C will have a five digit serial # A SC will be a Six Digit #, the C will have straight pedals and a SC will have curved pedals, the C has band brakes and a SC has disk brakes. there are other differences but that should be enough for a start.

There are several differences between the two models and the s/n is located on the tool box/seat base on the right hand side but the base could of been changed at some point. The fuel tank will set up above the touch control hydraulic block about 1 1/2" on a SC while on the C there is hardly any space between the two. The brake and clutch pedals will have a curve in them on a SC while they are straight from the pivot point to the top on the C. The front grill will have a wide bar at the bottom by the hand crank hole which is significantly wider then the ones above. These are a few which should help determine what you are looking at. Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for and a Super C is a very nice useable tractor, Hal.

Looks like it is a C. Is there anything I should worry about on a C? All I'm looking to do is move things around with a trailer. I do like the tractor, it "seems" to be well kept and runs well.

That whole series from the C through 240 are probably the handiest small row crop tractor ever made. My dad bought his first new in 1949 and Mom still had his last one until she left the farm in 1995. In that time, he probably had 3 or 4 Cs and a Super C and was never without one.

i have three c's one super c they are a good tractor for that i have pulled a trailer with 6,000lbs on it with no problems with one set of wheel weights here is one of my c's pulling this 8x10 two sets of wheel weights
