I know the specs call for 2-6Volts in series, would I get more power out of 2-12's in parralel?
Gonna buy new batts for it, just looking at options before I spend that money. Also does NAPA have a good hytrans oil? I don't have an CIH dealer within 150 miles of me

Tracy,I found out the hard way that 2 6v in series is more than 2 12 in parelell (on the 706).I use Napa oil in all my tractors.Hydralics/transmissions and engines.

Total cranking amperage depends on the size of the batteries, weather you use two six's in series or two twelves in parallel. Now day, it seems you can get more total cranking amps from two twelves. Down side is the extra cables running to starter.

The tractor was made with a single 12v battery group #24 in gas version, diesel was factory equipped with 2 6v called battery group #2, you get more reserve or lasting power wired in series to get 12v, if you live in a colder climate would stick with it, otherwise 2 12v in parallel would work good. Dont buy the battery by price, buy it by specifications. The Hytran from NAPA is good, just change if it changes color from caramel.

I run one 12 volt battery in my 1206 and in my 1456 IH"s....I have no trouble starting them in cold weather..I got tired of two 6 volts not getting the job done..Just go with one 12 volt battery..
