Supper C steering box

I’m thinking that as long as I have the bolster off changing the crank seal I would re-seal the steering box and I keep hearing that flipping the gear will take up some of the slop. But is there anything else I should look out for, or is this as strait forward as the book leads me to believe.
Thanks and wish me luck

It is very straight forward once you realize that it comes out the bottom in one big piece. On mine most of the problem was that the mounting bolts were loose.

Go back to the archives about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Gene Bender and I just went thru doing this. You will probably need to replace the bearing on the end of the worm shaft. There are no other adjustments other than flip the gear around 180 deg. like you already stated.

Thanks I looked it up and made myself a copy. Now to order parts and come up with a bearing puller. I looked some yesterday butno one had one big enough I guess NAPA is next

Ive rebuilt a bunch of the As Bs and Cs. Never had to use a puller yet. If the top bearing is good no reason to replace.
