# 2 valve is leaking

My 706 has a 263 in it...my # 2 valve is leaking oil or there is oil coming out where the spark plug is. What do i need to do to fix it?

have you checked the compression yet? thats the start.

What do you mean when you say #2 valve is leaking?? is it missing on #2 or is it the fact that you see oil around the spark plug?? If it is missing then run a compression test , if it has a burnt valve on #2 then the head will have to come off and get a new valve installed and the rest ground . Now more then likely you will need new valve guides also . And when ya pull the head off now you can look and see how much ridge is in the cylinders , if you can catch your finger nail on the ridge then she is getting close to overhaul time . also while the head is off more then likely the head will need planed down to get it flat again. If it is a burnt valve then before you run it with a new valve job i would recommend that you start using a LOW ASH oil or you will become and old hand at doing valve jobs .
