I just bought a IH 404 and its seems to be in high range,is there a handle or something im missing to get it in low range?

I could be mistaken,But I believe a 404 is just a simple 4 or 5 sp.I'm not sure that there was even a TA on that tractor.

Delta Red is correct, it has no low range, it does have a 4 speed transmission plus reverse.
Pretty good little tractor with usable hydraulics, but no live PTO. Jim

Some had a dual range transmission, think I remember the shifter to left and shifting range gears just ahead of the transmission in the center housing section.

There was also a third "shuttle" transmission available. Problem with the 4 speed in all three is there is a big jump between 3rd and 4th gears. The 404 is just a later version of the 240 series with a C-135 instead of the C-123 and the 2 added optional transmissions. They still did not have a live pto in this series... Look it up on external_link it lists the speed(mph) of the dual range(high range)transmission for your tractor 8 forward gears 2 reverse.
