A new (to me) IH 350

Just bought 1 1958 IH 350 utility tractor today in very nice shape. Older restoration but only 55 hours on it since. First International and, in fact, the first tractor I have ever owned. Have a 5 acre hobby farm that I and my fiance and just getting going. Thought this would handle everything I might need a tractor for. Can the quick attachment arms be adjusted to be further back? The P.O. attempted to put a King Kutter tiller on it, but the PTO shaft was too long to allow it to slide onto the PTO of the tractor. Thinking the tiller was too close to the rear of the tractor because the 3 pt hitch on the quick attach arms are set wrong. Any ideas?

There are more than one type of Fast-Hitch to 3 point adaptors, what do you have?
If the clearance is okay for your tires and the angle of the PTO shaft is okay, river9072 may be right.

you need to get the quick hitch attachment that is set up like an arch,it will put the att out another 8inches or so,and the arch has the third link setup at the top putting that out futher to,I have seen them for sale on this website and others around $300-$350 make sure it has the correct points, dont know if yours are large or small maybe some one else knows that ? good luck with the new tractor and when you get frustrated go for a tractor ride ITS CALLED TRACTOR THEROPY excuse the spelling

Cut the inner shaft off. You may or may not have trouble with a roto tiller on a 350. 1st gear with the TA lever forward may be too fast, and I have read that with the TA in use the tiller may push the tractor -- someone who has done this correct me.

Since the early TAs freewheel in low TA, it can be pushed by the tiller. However with the live pto, you can always use the brakes to hold it back and clutch the ground travel if needed. I like the hydro on my garden tractor as the best situation for a tiller, but the tiller will still slide the wheels at times, even with my 250#s on it.

In other words unless it is a small area it wil be a pain to use. I probably shouldn't comment because I have only used a tractor driven tiller a couple of times. One was with a 444, no TA but 4 gears forward with a hi and low range. At times it would actually push the 444, but I was not used to the tiller and may have had it set wrong. It was just a garden, and I'm not much of a gardener. Wierd because I grew up on a vegetable farm.
