This is kind of one those pointless questions but here goes. Why did IH paint the grille, fenders and rims white on the 1206's ? On the 706/806's they painted them red. Just wondering if anyone knew the answere? |

| They added white to the 350/450 which made them more noticable and the 560 was a big styling change. The white on the 1206 has made them a Classic and the Gold Demo has also became a sought after tractor. The 5 million paint job is being repeated on pullers and a few collectors so white has been one of IHs marketing ideas. Why? Just quesses. |

| I remember when they introduced them. John Deere had put out a letter to their dealers apparently that it was just a 806 with a turbo put on it . IH was quick to retaliate with a letter to us IH dealers telling all the differences. Carburized gears was the biggest item I remember. Back in those times every one knew when a new model tractor was coming and they got a lot of attention. Had large field demonstrations where some customers and parts dept went to. Mechanic had to stay home and repair tractors. |

| | MARKETING, IHC wanted all to notice it was a new model. Most people at the time, and now, agreed that the 1206 is a very sharp looking tractor. Harolod H |

| I have two 1206 my thinking is it was the 1st IH row crop with a factory turbo engine and they wanted it to stand out from the rest ie.706,806. |
