H hydraulic fluid return

I'm going to try to hook up a double acting ram to my tractor's belly pump. I have the directional valve I need, but need some help with the external plumbing. I've seen pictures of a modified filler/breather where the return line Ts into it. Well, I ain't got that. Since this was going to be a stationary application, I'm wondering if I can just stick the return line (maybe necked down to fit through the holes) into the filler hole. Or would I end up with fluid flying everywhere except where I need it?

Hoking it into the drain is easy and pretty certain to not cause drama. A T or cross there will allow draining and return. Jim

Here's a diagram someone had posted earlier.

I hooked mine into the fill tube with a galv tee and a short pipe nipple above the tee. Put the cap on with a small hole drilled in it for air. Used it for three years now and it works fine. There is no seepage out of the hole in the cap, Len
