Why is a cub exhaust pipe so long?

The exhaust pipe on cubs stick out of the hood farther than
other models. Why?

This is just a guess, but maybe it is to get the exhaust up out of the operator's face since the tractor is smaller but the operator is presumably the same size.

That's what I would say too. The height of the pipe above the operator's face is what's important, not the height above the hood. A Cub's hood is much lower relative to the seat than larger tractors.

Cut it off, stick the muffler back on, and run it for a while... You'll find out why real quick as your eyes start to water and you start to cough and you get a nasty headache.
