I'm sorry about asking more questions on using a gear oil for my Super C, but was wondering if I could use 5 gallons of Lucas gear oil in it. I have a lot of noise in 3rd and 4th gear. I'm thankful for all of your comments.

Save the money and just use regular stuff oil dont make bearings and worn gears just do a good flush then refil if its too noisy for you then tear it down and replace worn stuff and it still could make noise. Your noise could be coming from the oil slinger gear which means splitting tractor and removing lots of parts to replace.

the old guys accumulate moisture in them. try draining case. crack open drain plug and let water and goop drain out. fill with oil and drive to check any reduction in noise.

that's to much i think but if you go that route let me know if it helps i'll start put more in mine buylucasoil.com is the cheapest place i have found

I don't think 5 gal. will fit in the SC. The use of 85-140 (and maybe a quart of Lucas) will be all the stiffer you want to go on the oil. Unless you are in Ecuador, the shifter will be way difficult to move. They make whine no matter what they are straight cut spur gears. efficient but noisy. If the tractor is getting noisier and noisier it needs an operation not medicine. Jim
