I have a 1955 300. I"ve located a 1955 400 with power steering. Question is; will the power steering assembly swap over to my 300 with no modifications or differant brackets?

Bruce

Yes it will bolt right up. If you are talking factory power steering, make sure you get the required hydraulic components off the 400 too.

Steering worm shaft will be different and the supports to keep the unit from rotating is different. You can cut the existing shaft and put a keyway in it and make support straps or find the original parts. Like the other poster pointed out if running it from the existing hydraulics you need to get all the parts.
Unless you know it was a working unit it may save some trouble to run it from a separate engine driven pump.

300s came with live hydraulics. I imagine it could have been deleted from the build list, but very rare. If transplanting a PS into it it will need valve components to assure it has a priority valve. Jim

If powering from the IH engine driven pump, other parts that go with it are the first control valve from the steering support, orfice plug, regulator and priority valve block, U shaped connector pipe and fittings and fittings to plumb the PS return line to the reservoir drain plug. Thats if you do it like IH did. Or a PS pump with reservoir will fit under a 300 hood and can be driven by the generator belt. Then just the lines need run from it to the unit.
