On my M there's a little crank down near the light switch, what is it for ? thanks.

It is to be used to open and close the radiator shutters. These were used on all Distillate tractors and some gas only. They allowed the operator to (mindfully) control the engine temperature to assure quick warmup, and controlled operating temperature for vaporizing the heavier fuel. Today 90% of the shutter systems have been removed and scrapped ot set behind the barn to go into oxide heaven. Jim
