Farmall A 3 point hitch??

I have a Farmall A and am unable to find a 3 point hitch for it. All I have been able to find is 3PH for Super A's.

I am not a huge tractor expert, so I was curious if a "Super A" 3 point hitch would still be able to be used on the "A"?

I am guessing no but I just want to make sure

Thanks

Farmall A doesent have any hy system so how are you going to use a 3 pt. Several ways to put a hy system on the tractor though. You can either run a pump off the gen belt or the PTO And then build a 3-pt it has been done.

Thanks for the reply

Is there a location where I can find the parts and instructions to install a hydraulic system on a Farmall A?

And if I install a Hy System, would I use a Super A 3PH kit or is something else available on the market ?

The easiest way in my opinion to make that work, is to get the implement lift for the plow. You can then use it to lift a 3 point hitch up and down.

Alex, you will need a hydralicpump, timing cover, gears, etc. Then you will need to find a lift all unit that sits under the gas tank.Going to be EXPENCIVE.Better to buy a complete SA,or at least a parts SA and do some swapping. The easiest way is to find a power steering pump from a junkede truck. belt drive off the frontof the crankshaft.Get a spool valve to control it.One thing nobody has mentioned is a rockshaft assy.SA has that.A does not.

You dont change timing cover ect on the A. Easiest way is run a pump off the belt pulley drive then build a nice 3-pt. You can also run a pump off the gen drive if you think you have to have live hy. Makes a nice compact set-up running off the belt pulley res under the seat and control either side of the seat unless you want to run hoses or tube all over the tractor.

About the easiest way to add hyds to an A is by using a Chev truck power steering pump and a simple control body like used on a loader. Did that on a B years ago to work the lift on a sickle bar mower I fixed to mount to the belly of the B

If you have the old levers on your tractor for lifting and lowering implements I would use them. I had never installed the 16-inch moldboard plow on a Farmall A until 1976 when I got this A running. All the brackets were on the plow and I wasn't very long installing it. I'm not sure if I had to reverse the drawbar. The long lever will lift that plow easily. The other lever tilts the point. I was 43 then. Hal

Here's a pic of that A in 1976. Hal

The fenders on a Farmall Super A are lot heavier than the fenders on a Farmall A as they have to carry the rear rock-shaft for the lift system. The Farmall A rear lift rock-shaft was attached to the top of the transmission on the left-hand side and to a strap bolted to the seat support and fender on the right-hand side whereas in the Super A the rock-shaft is supported on the rear of the fender on each side.
