Larry Hardesty 11-20-2012 09:25:49 74.38.130.115 Report to Moderator	I purchased the yellow post hole digger on the left a couple of years ago. I contacted Danuser and it is not one they made. As you can see, it is two prong for fast hitch. There is a piece welded on each prong to make it for the larger fast hitch. Anyone have an idea who made it?? The earlier ones were made in Ottawa, Kansas until the owner of the company died and then the company was purchased by Comfort Engineering in Kansas City and reloacted to one of their plants in Holden, Missouri. The change in ownership and production facilities changed in the early 1950's I believe. They are a very good rugged auger and I have one I use on my fast hitch Super C with excellent results. Replacement parts to my knowledge are not available from any source so it's off to a machine shop if anything breaks, Hal. [Reply]  [No Email]

farmallhal 11-21-2012 09:02:49 76.4.176.113 Report to Moderator	Re: Fast Hitch Post Hole Digger in reply to Too Far Gone, 11-21-2012 06:47:24   Your mounting arms are somewhat different then mine and the way they were sold was with the gearbox, PTO shaft and other items that make the basic unit as one part. You then select the tractor mounting kit depending on what make and model of tractor you want to mount on. Mine is a fast hitch model for a Super C and the arms are bent up about 2 feet back from where they insert into the fast hitch. The gearbox is what really makes it look like the Ottawa to me. The gearbox should have a round cast hole where a long handle inserts and I believe held in place with a set screw. That handle is used by the tractor operator to tilt the auger during transport and also to position it when drilling a post hole. You might have a tractor mounting kit on yours for something other then the tractor you have it presently mounted on and might have been modified some time ago by a PO. Good luck and they are certainly a good unit, Hal. P.S. Too Far Gone 11-22-2012 07:27:47 216.146.243.211 Report to Moderator	Re: Fast Hitch Post Hole Digger in reply to farmallhal, 11-21-2012 09:02:49   This sucker sure dont have a hole to mount a handle or any place where a set screw would go.Wish it did.That'd be kinda handy at times.Ive dug several holes with it since I took that picture.My front seal leaks,but Im pretty confident my lil part store can match the seal.Ive gotta make a shot over to St Louie next month.Its a shame I wont get closer to you,or Id visit about these old things awhile.Sis-in-law is due to hatch a lil girl in December over there.
