While changing the oil filter when I removed the retaining bar the adapter to the bar came out of the base also. lst time for everything. Now, do I put the adapter back in w/cement or search for another base? In going thru the parts manuel there are so many different Oil filter base I could not tell you which one I have. The SC serial # is 126428.

Replacement oil filter is all one piece so take out the base of the filter you removed it must have came loose when removing old filter

I had no problem removing the adapter from the bottom of the retaing bar and removing the filter. my problem is putting the adapter back in the base and making sure it stays. Should I just tighten it the best I can or add some cement to make sure it stays?

The Super C came with only one oil filter and base, so unless yours has been modified for a spin-on filter or something, I guess I really don't know what you're asking about.

Put the bolt thru the filter housing then slip the filter over the bolt with tapered end down and install. The "adapter" is part of the filter and should not be removed.

Unless someone modified the base that the filter fits into there is no retaining bar or adapter, there is a bolt that holds the filter cover and filter in place. Otherwise I have no idea what you mean.
