Fan belt adjustment 1953 or 54 Farmall

Can someone provide me details on how to adjust the fan belt? The book I have shows a different picture on how to do this. The tractor is either a 1963 or 1954. No serial numbers.
 
Can depend on what model it is. A good number of them use an adjustable water pump pulley where you loosen a lock screw then rotate the outer part of the pulley to make it narrower so the belt then in turn gets tighter

What book are you looking at? The owners manual shows how to do it.
 
The H water pump has a locking screw or bolt on the inside pulley. Loosen that then you screw the inside pulley tighter. That would be counterclockwise when looking at it from the front. You might want to get that loosened up with a penetrate before you stick the belt back on. It is a pain if it has been awhile.
 

I have an H manual but, the picture is completely different. I can do this now. Thanks for all your assistance.
