| You don't need the regulator in place to start the tractor.
Take apart all the large battery connections and clean them, on both ends of each large cable. |

| First of all, remove one of the battery terminals from the battery posts. This prevents all sparking. Next hook the regulator as follows. The F terminal on the regulator connects to the F terminal on the generator. The GEN terminal on the regulator (could be labeled ARM)is attached to the Arm terminal on the Generator. The BAT terminal is connected to the amp gauge (the terminal on the gauge that is not connected to the starter) If it has a L terminal, that is connected to the fuse, supplying the lights. If no L terminal ignore this last instruction) Assure that the battery has been installed with the Positive terminal to ground. With the key, and lights off, briefly touch the removed battery cable to the battery post. If sparks, the regulator, or other issues exist. Let us know. If no sparks, connect the cable and go to the regulator. Use a piece of copper wire to jump from the B terminal to the GEN (or ARM) terminal. This will put a magnetic charge in the field poles of the Generator. It will spark, it should, it is OK to hold it for one second. If no other issues, start the tractor to see if it works. Jim |

| Thanks. Every day I teach people (80% of whom are near totally lacking in experiential education)with content they have neither experienced, or heard of. I make an effort to be clear and envisioning what they will see standing there. Sometimes it works. Jim |
