| mkirsch said: (quoted from post at 08:50:50 11/12/12) What tractors would have had the aftermarket power steering up at the steering wheel like this? |
The JD 60 Dad bought from a JD dealer in Elkader, Ia and had a Char-Lynn unit mounted, used the cast iron dash/steering pedistal as the mount. Then they installed a Saginaw pump with an integral reservoir, much like a '55 Olds I had. Made for a good hand warmer when picking corn in cold weather and a neighbor that had a factory ps 60 said ours worked better than his. Some time after I left home, Dad sold it to his brother and when i saw it later, the supply for the ps was plumbed to the tractor hydraulics... said the Saginaw went south.
My 240U has a bracket on the left side of the engine and there is a section of the steering shaft cut out there between a couple of bushings.
