IH 706 TA

I recently bought a IH 706 with a TA. My question is, under normal operating conditions, should the TA be disendgaged, so it's in direct drive, or should it be engaged? Or does it matter? My tractor seems to shift from forward to reverse easier if the TA is disengaged.

it's made to use either direct or ta all the time.

doesn't matter a bit. they'll run all day long either way. the F/R shifting being easier in TA sounds like you need to adjust the clutch/dump valve. the whole procedure has been posted many times.

Don't quote me on this but I think the hard shifting has to do with the dump valve adjustment.
