Kurt LaGrander 10-29-2012 20:36:05 174.124.122.55 Report to Moderator	I have a 450 farmall and adjusted the TA according to the manual. Now it sticks in gear when theres pressure on the tractor. I have to put it in low to shift. Why is this? Is it in the adjustment? [Reply]   [No Email]

You can see when the TA clutch releases by removing the small plate on top of the TA housing.   [Reply]  [No Email]

When you push the clutch, that short link puts the TA in low automatically so you can shift.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Adjusting the long rod adjusts your clutch pedal free travel. If you take too much of that out you'll burn up your throwout bearing. IIRC you start by adjusting clutch pedal free travel to spec, then adjust the short rod so the TA clutch releases when you press the clutch pedal down fully. If pressure lets off when you tug back on TA, its out of adjustment. The book gets you close, but all the linkage wear makes tweaking nesecary.
