H water pump packing

ok i am working on a H for a friend and it apears the water pump packing needs replaced my it manual says it comes in split segments 1/4 " thick i called the ih dealer they said they had one in stock but they thought i would need two is that enough or will i need more

yes, but u need a length besides the width also. when u have it apart it gives u a good indication of how much needed. i dont know what length it comes in either. cause i know packing can be bought in bulk and thats the way i get it.

I repacked mine this summer. I called my local dealer and ordered 2. I talked to a local mechanic and told me to just pack the 2 around the shaft. It took both and then I tightened it down and worked great. Just ordered 2 and they came in a small baggie from Case. Good luck

2 doesn't work for me, I would use 3--they don't cost that much.
