(quoted from post at 19:00:19 10/28/12) If I remember right that's an "M" and you're in
Minnesota.

Not this one. This is my SMTA with #8 3-14. I am following a Case 400 diesel with a Case 3-14. We had this little bean field to plow. I would guess it was about 3.5 acres and it took the two of us around 2 hours to plow. There was some fixing on his plow and some adjusting/scraping/plugging that slowed us down. I can't believe how easy these old plows plug up.

Bean stubble/ stalks were heavy around here this fall. Bean stalks were green yet, but the beans were 11%, so we went ahead & combined.
Will probably have to disc next year to get NH3 on without plugging.
I used to run our SMTA with a 3-bottom many years ago. Nice plowing job.

Dad and I went to two different plow days this fall. Could not get the No 8 2-14 or the Model 70 4-14 to drop in the ground. It was like black concrete.
Sure looks like you had fun!

Dang right on the plugged up old plows, way worse in corn stubble too. Frustrates me pretty good sometimes. But,I once plugged my IH auto-reset so bad with stalks that the springs were pulled back a little and were squeezing the stalks in there ! I finally had to loop a cable around the plow point and to a tree to trip the bottom back enough to clear the plug. I paid closer attention after that !

Oh yea on plow plugging with the old low clearance plows unless ya had the M&W coulters , don't know why but i put a set on my old 540's and corn stalks were no problem after that.
