1941 farmall md pics

Here are a couple of pics of the 41 md I picked up in august, there not the best pictures. It has a good running 49 engine that was installed sometime ago. It is mostly complete including the early style pto shaft, has decent metal but tires aren't the best but will do for now would eventually like to put it on full steel and replace the engine with the early engine with bosch injection but that will take time. Serial number is 29608 with april-june casting codes. Jim.

Between the tire problems and the non original motor, it's just not worth owning! I'll be there in the morning with trailer to relieve you of the burden.....

Seriously now, we don't get a lot of MD's in this area. There's one two miles from here but it's beyond bringing back (and I usually believe just about anything is fixable).

I did finally get my 400D to switch and run on diesel! More of that story later this week.

Lol, its kinda the same thing here centex. The mds were not as common nor popular in this area as in the west and mid west. My 51 was bought out of wisconsin back in 07 or 08 and brought to pa. But seems like the quality of the tractors are better when they come outta the mid and western parts of the country. Jim.

Grandpa had one "back in the day" and Dad still remembers it. The progression went like this: Mules => F-12 => H => MD => 560D. IIRC only the F-12 was bought new. Later on Grandpa had another H that he used for lighter duty.

I did see an MD at the Hillsboro show 2 or 3 years ago. I can use the "R" word to describe it because it truly was restored and looked very nice.

I would like to have an MD at some point, but I hope I don't find on tomorrow as I'm about tractored out at this point.

A very correct MD. The Rollog, Minn show this year featured IH and near 1/2 of the 400 tractors were M's or their deratives, SM or TA's
and about 2/3rds of those were diesels. I grew up on a SMD (still at home) 18000 hours on 2 overhauls. I now own several of the 4 cyl diesels and have a TD 6 with the Bosch pump. A guy just never gets over needing a fix of the switch from gas to diesel. Collecting them is great.

Yes I couldn't agree more growing up my granddad always talked about the md he had and back in 2010 I bought a 51 md was in alittle better shape then this one but I was hooked. There not quite as common here in my area gassers are everywhere though. I oneday hope to have a 52 smd,53smd and an smdta but that will take awhile lol. The diesels in my opinion are one of the neatest tractors around to work/play with even though they can be a pain to get parts for but I wouldn't trade them for anything. Jim.

Jim, Nice looking MD. Friend had one at the Lake Wales (FL) show this weekend. I know of a set of rear wheel weights that wants a new home , presently residing in Zolpho Springs FL. Not far from 'Flywheelers show just in case you are interested.
