Looking for serial number for my super H. The serial number tag is not correct as the center section has been replaced. Pic 1is by the shifter. Pic 2 is on rh side of trans. Pic 3 is on rh side of block. # on the head is 8043- dd. # stamped on block is 12841. Also raised is 3580067- r1.

You have a '53 SH.The stamped # is the sn.The 'Y' cast is month/day/year(8-16-Y).All other # are part #s.

Tractor serial number was probably in the 10,000 to 11,000 range. Fellow named Pat keeps a list of SH tractors and is good at telling what a SH chassis number is going by the engine serial number. Haven't noticed him posting lately.
Didn't add that it looks like the engine serial number was installed in a june 1953 built tractor. They must of used the transmission housing shorly after casting.

On my 1950 "H" the number stamped into the flat two inches under the No. 1 spark plug corresponds with the serial number on the other side of the sngine.

Your serial would have been between 10951 J and 10970 J. Best i can do with the info I have right now. Sorry haven"t posted much lately, hectic schedule and trying to get too many things done at once :) Please send me an email with pics if you get a chance, I'll try to narrow down your number when time allows. Thanks for the info. I'll try to get more serial number pic to you pat. I was wondering if there is any where else the exact serial # could be other than the stamped one on the lh side.

With the tag missing it's hard to get exact. The
spread between the chassis serial number and motor
serial number increased as production went on. The best I can do is crunch some
numbers from known tractors that I have both chassis and motor number
to compare, then I trend it to see where the
unknown numbers would most probably land. I don't
have info on any tractors within 50 numbers of
yours so it's hard to be more precise. I'll get as
close as I can for you. The more data I can
compile the more accurate I can be. that's why
it's helpful for me to get both motor and chassis
numbers from anybody that has them. also any SW4
motor serial and chassis serial info is useful
because they used the same C-164 motor. Pat

The only place the chassis serial number is stamped is on the serial tag riveted to the bell housing. If that's missing, worn smooth, or otherwise corrupted, you will not be able to ever find the exact serial number for your tractor.

You can get CLOSE, and you may even get the exact right one, but you can't ever be 100% sure. The correct police will accuse you of lying/cheating/stealing if you don't somehow indicate that the serial number is approximate.

Just be aware of the truth of the situation, is all.
