Do F-20 and Regular sleves interchange? Son's buddy bought a fairly nice Regular that was running but has what appears to be a bad valve by the way it ran. They pulled the head and found a piston/liner damaged by water. The other three are in very good shape. I have an engine out of an F-20 sitting in the barn that they can pull a piston/sleeve out of. I'm pretty sure they will interchange but thought I'd ask you guys first. I hope one of them hasn't been bored. Thanks. Jim

Change the sleeve but the piston is probably not bad, take a wire wheel to it, they usually clean up real well. clean the grooves and reuse it so it matches the other 3.

If Rice doesn't have them Fordson House carries parts for regular and F-20.

I just checked out Fordson Hose and it looks like they have what we need. Thanks. Jim

Almost everything from your F-20 engine will fit the Regular. It will be a good source.

Yes, they will interchange. You may want to get a new "O" ring for the bottom of the sleeve when you insert it into the Regular.

Rice Equipment has them.

Thanks for the prompt reply. This young man was bummed out when he saw the bad p&s. He just hasn't torn into enough old tractors yet. There's always a surprise when you open an old one up. I'll have to contact Rice's.

They haven't pulled the valves or had the head crack checked so the adventure isn't over for them. Jim

Don't get too excited if you see a crack in the head, especially between the two center cylinders. Lots of them running with cracks. The cooling system is not pressurized and they are very forgiving old machines.

Well that's good to know for his sake. I personally have a late F-20 torn down in a slow ongoing process and I haven't taken the head to the machine shop yet. It's good to have a little knowledge about it ahead of time. Jim.
