This am, went to start tractor and was very sluggish, but did turn over and run, shut off later and solienoid(sp) clicked and clicked and starter turned over very slowly and would'nt start.
Battery was Fully charged about noon and still would not turn over
Could it be the starter solienoid or is it the starter thats bad
Thanks for any and all responces

Hi Carl, again as Gene said, check battery connections, especially the ground and where the ground connects to the frame.
My brother has had a couple of starter problems on his 454, one Lucas starter developed a short to ground and another the solenoid would just click.
The contacts were burned on solenoid and tractor would start with jump direct from battery to starter terminal. DO NOT jump direct to starter unless transmission in neutral and parking brake on.
Starter shop said in an emergency solenoid contacts could be filed or turned a half turn but only a short term fix.

Is it a Delco Remy or Lucas starter? If it is a Lucas you may have more difficulty finding parts.

have you checked all connections after trying to start where its warm thats where the problem lies it wouldnt hurt to take the starter and have it refreshed.
