OIL IN DISTRIBUTOR

SMTA

Member
I am getting oil in the distributor of my super mta. I have changed seals in the hydraulic pump that the distributor is attached to but did not do any good. Any suggestions. The distributor is an after market 12 volt. Thanks

This happens on the stock distributor and on your aftermarket too apparently. Theres an oring in the distributor that needs to be replaced.

I have some trouble with seals in Hydraulic pump on my SMTA but oil drips out of a couple spots between pump hookup and distributor body, I assume they are "weep holes" for that purpose. Maybe they are plugged on yours

Only place oil can come from is hydraulic pump. Now , if you did not clean out all the oil in adaptor housing when you replaced the seal that might be your problem. I am betting though that pump still leaks. No drip holes unless someone made them. This is a jury rig option to get you by.

The problem is that the hydraulic pump shaft has a groove worn in it from the seal, and even a new seal won't seal it up any more.

This might be a place where a speedi-sleeve would work. Otherwise, you need to replace the pump. Yes, replace the pump to the tune of $800-900. These pumps are not serviceable, no parts.
