stumbled into a what i believe is a WA40 today and brought it home with me. the serial# is wac1130. the tractor appears complete. manifold is perfect looking which i figured was probably unusual. motor is loose and mag has spark after filing the points. oil appears clean and had antifreeze int radiator. any input as to where to get a carb kit? also rear drawbar is held in place witha a turnbuckle type setup? didnt know if this was right or not? also the brake handle has been broken and a piece of pipe has been cobbled up( didnt know if there was another model with the same handle?) rear tires are 36" which are rough and junk wheels. any other choices? sorry for all the questions im just new to these old brute tractors. After i have tractor running any idea to the value of the tractor? thank you for any and all help and information..

wow nice tractor. its worth about 3500.00 as is. yes turnbuckle is correct on drawbar. its on cut down steel wheels which devalue it a bit. from factory the rear tires are 32" if it is in running order that is a big bonus as this is a model fbb truck engine in there. it was one of ihc's goof ups.they put a truck motor in these tractors. that engine is found in the model d-50 trucks from the 1930's.the wa model has a smaller bore than the wk model and is even harder to find pistons and sleeves for. all parts for these engines are pretty much obselete. all the engines also are worn right out cause they just did not stand up in the tractor and got worked to death. they were just too light of an engine.brake handle may be the same as w-30 or 22-36 but have not checked that out. and those fenders can be made as i did on my wd40.

Looks like a nice one to restore, don't find many left in that good of shape anymore. It doesn't have the right manifold, the one on it is for a WK40. The one on a WA40 has the exhaust pipe on the front near the radiator, not in the center. Look at your block on the mag side, there is a machined area that has the block code and serial number. Block should have WAC stamped in it if it is original.

You really should be ashamed to drag that thing home, its only going to take up room in your garge, give me your address and Ill give you scrap price for it

According to my parts book, the WA40 used the same brake handle as the 15-30/22-36. I have one off of a 22-36 that I would sell to you.

Greg, the "A" meant gasoline burner. The WK40 was made to burn kerosene and the WA40 gasoline. Then in November of 1936 it became just the W40.
