ballasted weight?

Just curious - looking at tractordata web site for the weight of a super a.

lists 2400 lbs

or 3450 ballasted.

Thinking a full set of wheel weights can't be much more than 500 lbs... gas, fluids, etc - anothe.. 20?

What do you suppose they consider ballast?

loaded tires?

Wondering if the term has an actual definition in the tractor world.

That's what I figured, just that 1000 pounds sounds a little on the high side for fluids etc in a little super a.

On the 28 inch tires on my newer MF, each tire took just under 55 gallons of fluid. That was water mixed with calcium cloride, somewhat heavy in it's own right. Each tire took nearly 1000 pounds. One of these sites that I had on my old computer had the mixure, and what you would gain in each tire. I think it was M.E. Miller, but I looked and their site no longer has this feature, that is, if it was them. This was 10 years. ago.

Just for giggles, my daughters A with a heavy center on both sides, rear weights and 2 full weights from my M, and her in the seat tips the scales right at 3,000 lbs. She's 103lbs by the way....just don't tell her I said that ;)

"Ballasted" is any added weight. fluid in tires + cast iron weights. Fuel water and oil would be included in the "unballasted" category too. You can't very well test a tractor without fuel. I assume the made allowance for the operator too. Use this link to download the official Nebraska Test
