farmall m Hydraulic pump shaft seal

I was able to get the coupler off and repalce the seal however their were 2 seals in the old seal housing, do i need to replace with 2 seals or just one? i put just one seal back in and put it back together. Was I suppose to use 2 seals agian? Thanks

one seal is just fine.

The original was one different type of seal. the ones you took out were replacement seals of much thinner design. Putting one seal back in is not a problem. Especially if it is sealing against a pretty good spot on the shaft. If it does not leak, it is as good as it gets. Jim

Make sure the shaft is real nice, or put on a speedy sleeve. Mine was grooved real bad and never quite leaking even with a new seal.
